The agreement between you and TypeWondo when you use this website. Short version: use it in good faith, do not attack it, do not take the brand, and understand that a pre-launch site comes with no warranties.

1. Agreement to these terms

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the website at typewondo.com and any game, application or service TypeWondo makes available through it (together, the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

These Terms should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how personal information is handled and forms part of this agreement.

2. Who may use TypeWondo

You may use the Service if you can form a binding contract where you live, or if you are under that age and are using it with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian. The Service is not directed at children under 13, and account-based features, when they exist, will not be offered to them.

You may not use the Service if you are barred from doing so under applicable law, or if your access has previously been terminated by us.

3. What the Service currently is

TypeWondo is in development. As of the effective date above, the Service consists of this informational website. The typing game, belt grading, drills and any other feature described on these pages are planned, not delivered.

Forward-looking statements. Descriptions of belts, training modes, language roadmaps and timelines on this site set out our present intentions. They are not commitments, guarantees or an offer, and they may change as development continues. Nothing on this site should be relied on as a promise that a specific feature will be released, or released in a particular form or timeframe.

4. Accounts

The Service does not currently offer accounts. If and when accounts are introduced:

  • you must provide accurate information and keep it current;
  • you are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for all activity under your account;
  • you must tell us promptly at typewondoteam@gmail.com if you believe your account has been compromised;
  • you may not share, sell or transfer an account, and you may not create an account on someone else's behalf without their permission.

Ranks, belts, scores and other in-game progress are a feature of the Service, not property. They carry no monetary value, cannot be exchanged for anything of value, and may be reset, recalculated or withdrawn where necessary, for example to correct a bug, remove a cheated result, or restructure the grading system.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or in breach of any applicable law or regulation;
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, its servers, or any related system or network;
  • probe, scan or test the vulnerability of the Service, or defeat any security or authentication measure, other than through a good-faith security disclosure sent to us first;
  • interfere with or disrupt the Service, including by overloading, flooding or spamming it;
  • use scripts, bots, macros, automated key input or any other means to falsify typing results, scores, rankings or grading;
  • scrape, harvest or systematically extract content or data from the Service except as permitted by our robots.txt, and never for the purpose of building a competing product;
  • reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble any part of the Service, except to the extent that restriction is prohibited by law;
  • submit abusive, harassing, defamatory, obscene, discriminatory or deliberately misleading content through any form or channel we provide;
  • impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with one;
  • remove, obscure or alter any copyright, trademark or other proprietary notice.

Well-intentioned security researchers are welcome. Report anything you find to typewondoteam@gmail.com before disclosing it publicly, give us a reasonable opportunity to fix it, and do not access, modify or destroy data that is not yours. We will not pursue action against research conducted on that basis.

6. Our intellectual property

The Service and everything in it, including the TypeWondo name, the wordmark, the seal logo, the belt grading system as presented, page copy, layout, design, graphics and code, is owned by TypeWondo or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark and other laws. Except as set out below, no right or licence is granted to you.

You may link to any page on this site, and you may quote short extracts for review, commentary, reporting or teaching provided you attribute them to TypeWondo and link to the source page. You may not copy the site wholesale, republish substantial portions of it, use our name or logo in a way that suggests endorsement or affiliation, or register a confusingly similar name or domain.

Third-party names referred to on this site, including taekwondo, the JLPT, and any typeface or platform we mention, belong to their respective owners and are used descriptively. Their mention does not imply any affiliation with, sponsorship of, or endorsement by those owners.

The Japanese language, the kana syllabaries, the jōyō kanji list and JLPT vocabulary levels are not owned by anybody, least of all us. Our drill sets, sequencing and grading thresholds are our own work.

7. Your submissions

When you send us feedback, corrections, bug reports, suggestions or other material ("Submissions"), you keep ownership of them. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual and irrevocable licence to use, reproduce, adapt and incorporate Submissions into the Service without obligation, attribution or payment.

You confirm that your Submissions are yours to send and do not infringe anyone else's rights. Please do not send us confidential information or anything you are not free to share. If we quote your feedback publicly we will do so anonymously unless you tell us otherwise.

8. Third-party services and links

The Service is hosted, and may deliver assets or process forms, through third parties, and it may link to sites we do not control. We are not responsible for third-party content, policies or practices, and a link is not an endorsement. Your use of a third-party service is governed by that party's own terms.

9. Availability, changes and discontinuation

We may change, suspend, limit or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, with or without notice. We may also impose limits on certain features or restrict access to parts of the Service. We are not liable to you or anyone else for any modification, suspension or discontinuation of the Service, although we will give reasonable notice of a permanent shutdown where it is practical to do so.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free, that defects will be corrected, or that content, including Japanese readings, translations, romaji mappings and vocabulary levels, is accurate, complete or current. TypeWondo is a practice tool, not a certified educational qualification, and it is not a substitute for formal instruction or for preparation materials published by any examining body.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so some of the above may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits consumer rights that cannot be limited by law.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, TypeWondo and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill or other intangible losses, arising out of or relating to your use of or inability to use the Service, whether based on contract, tort, negligence, strict liability or any other theory, and whether or not we were advised of the possibility.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, or fifty United States dollars (US$50).

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

12. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless TypeWondo and its operators from any claim, demand, loss, liability or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the Service, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of any law or the rights of a third party.

13. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access immediately, without notice, if you breach these Terms, if we are required to by law, or if we discontinue the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination, including sections 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, 15 and 16, will survive.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms as the Service develops. The "last updated" date at the top always reflects the current version. Material changes will be signalled on the site before they take effect where reasonably possible. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms; if you do not accept them, stop using the Service.

15. Governing law and disputes

To be finalised before launch. TypeWondo has not yet fixed the operating entity and the jurisdiction whose law will govern these Terms. This section will name the governing law and the courts with jurisdiction before any account, payment or user-content feature goes live, and the "last updated" date will change when it does. Until then, these Terms are offered in good faith and nothing in them is intended to deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer law in your country of residence.

Before starting any formal proceeding, please contact us at typewondoteam@gmail.com so we can try to resolve the matter informally. Most disputes over a website of this size turn out to be misunderstandings, and those are cheaper to fix by email.

16. General

  • Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and TypeWondo regarding the Service and supersede any earlier understanding.
  • Severability. If any provision is found unenforceable, it will be limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary and the rest will remain in force.
  • No waiver. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
  • Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our written consent. We may assign them to an affiliate or in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
  • No agency. Nothing in these Terms creates a partnership, joint venture, employment or agency relationship.
  • Headings. Section headings are for convenience and do not affect interpretation.
  • Language. These Terms are written in English. Any translation is provided for convenience, and the English version governs.
